How Does the SpotSound Mascot Design Service Work?
Turning an idea into a finished mascot costume usually starts with a design stage, and SpotSound UK's design service is built to make that step as clear and useful as possible. We have a large library of pre-made graphics to help you picture your mascot, alongside a service designed to deliver a costume that genuinely matches your requirements rather than a generic approximation of it. There are a few different ways this service can work, depending on where your idea currently stands.
A visual to show you how your character might look
This first option is part of the standard design process. It is an interpretation of your character rather than a replica of the finished product, intended to show you shape, proportion, silhouette, colours and branding before anything is built. Because it is an interpretation rather than final artwork, this visual is not available for commercial use, and it is worth keeping that distinction in mind if you were hoping to reuse it elsewhere, such as on packaging or in advertising.
Character development
If you need a character developed in much more depth, for example one that will become the face of your organisation across several types of media, we offer a separate character development service. This is a more time-consuming process, so it is charged additionally, and pricing is also available "per pose" so your character can be shown performing different activities across different materials and formats. Because of the extra work involved, the lead time for character development artwork can be longer than for the standard visual, so it is worth planning ahead if this is the route you want to take for your organisation.
Your own action: the mascot creation pack
If you enjoy a hands-on approach, you can download our mascot creation pack and experiment with your own design ideas, for instance using photo-editing software to create a virtual version of your mascot. Once you are happy with the direction, we can then produce the same concept to our usual standard of quality, taking your own exploration as the starting point for the finished costume rather than starting entirely from a blank page.
Choosing the right option for you
Which of these approaches suits you best depends on how developed your idea already is and how you plan to use the character beyond the costume itself. A quick visual is often enough for a straightforward mascot, while character development makes more sense for a brand that wants a character across multiple channels and formats, from print to video and social media.
Talking it through with our team
Because every project starts from a different point, it is worth having a short conversation with our design team before deciding which service is right for you. They can help you understand which option will get you to a satisfying result most efficiently, based on how your character will be used once the costume is finished.
Whichever route appeals to you, the SpotSound team can talk you through the options. Browse our existing mascot designs for inspiration or get in touch to request a quote for your own design project.
