Size a mascot costume by the wearer's height, taken in bare feet or plain flat shoes. The chart gives one height range per size. Should your wearer sit between two ranges, choose the bigger costume, as it stays cooler and is more pleasant for a long shift.

Taking the measurement properly

  1. Ask the wearer to stand tall with heels against a skirting board, without chunky trainers or boots.
  2. Place a book flat on top of the head and mark where it touches the wall.
  3. Measure the distance from the floor to the mark in centimetres.
  4. Match the figure with a range in the chart. For example, 175 cm sits in the M range, and the next section covers borderline heights.
  5. For a society or charity team where several people take a turn, base the order on whoever is tallest.

When you land between two sizes

A snug costume tugs at the shoulders, holds back the arms and heats up faster. A slightly roomy one is perfectly workable because the inner padding keeps everything in place. If you are unsure, send the wearer's height and build by email and we will recommend a size before the costume goes into production.

Heat, sight lines and pacing

Inside a mascot head it is warm and the view is restricted. For a fundraising day or a freshers' fair, schedule regular breaks, offer water and send a helper along to steer the wearer through busy spaces. A fan and a cooling vest can be added from the Accessories section of the product page.

Sharing a costume across a team

If supporters or students take turns in the suit, size for the tallest, or buy a second costume in a different size. Two costumes can carry exactly the same artwork and logo.

Common questions from clubs and charities

What size do I need for a person of 175 cm?

Look up the row of the chart containing 175 cm. At the edge of two rows, pick the larger size.

Is the head included in the height shown?

No. The head adds to the overall look, but the chart refers to the person wearing the costume.

May a youngster wear an adult costume at a charity event?

We advise against it. It would be heavy and the view would be poor, so use a junior size if one is offered.

Can the size be amended after I pay?

Costumes are built to order. Write to us before production starts and we will amend it.

How soon will I hear back about a quote?

We reply within 24 h and give an estimated lead time before you commit to the order.
