Before a custom costume is made, you can have a 2D sketch, a flat drawing of the mascot, and a proof called the BAT (from the French bon à tirer), which is your written sign-off on that drawing. For a club, a students' union or a charity with a logo to show, we think both are worth having.

Where a sign-off earns its keep

A university society will often have a committee, a treasurer and a brand officer, all with a view on the result. A charity may need trustees or a campaign lead to agree. A club has its colours and crest to protect. In each case, one drawing that everybody has seen is easier to approve than a description in an e-mail.

What is in the pack

  • A 2D sketch of the costume, front and back, with colours, logo and wording in position.
  • The BAT, which is the written approval you give. The workshop waits for it before starting production.

Cases where it is optional

  • You are ordering a model just as it is shown on the product page.
  • Nothing is being added: no logo, no wording and no change of colour.

From first request to approval

  1. Add the option on the product page, or ask for it when you write for a quote.
  2. Look out for the sketch in your inbox.
  3. Send your corrections, or reply in writing to approve.
  4. Production begins once we hold your approval.

What is included and what is an extra

A custom quote comes with a sketch. A product-page order treats the sketch or proof as an extra you add to your basket.

Common questions from UK buyers

How quickly will I hear back?

Our team replies within 24 hours, and the timing for the sketch is settled with you as we talk.

May I request changes to the sketch?

Of course. Say what you would like altered and we amend the drawing before you give approval.

Does a signed proof cover the price?

It does not. Price and terms sit in the quote, while the proof only confirms the drawing.

Can a trustee or tutor approve on behalf of the group?

Whoever is authorised to decide for your group can reply to the sketch in writing. We simply need that clear approval before we begin.

Is it a problem if I leave the option out?

Your mascot is made as set out in your order. If it is personalised, a drawing first is still our advice.
