After an event, a mascot costume may have dust, moisture or small marks. Clean it gently to protect the fabric, foam and finishes. First check the care label and instructions supplied with your costume; they take priority over this general guide. If you are unsure, contact our team.

Before you begin
- Identify the materials and delicate areas, including eyes, glued pieces, seams and decorations.
- Remove only parts designed to detach. For electrical components, follow their instructions and remove batteries before care.
- Test the method and product on a small hidden area. Let it dry and check for colour change or distortion.
After each use
Air the costume in a clean, well-ventilated place. Lift dust with a very soft brush or a lint roller used without pressure. If vacuuming, use low suction and protect the fabric with a mesh screen or suitable attachment; avoid seams and delicate details.
Treating a small stain
- Blot gently with a clean cloth; do not scrub or soak the padding.
- If the care label permits it, use a barely damp cloth with a tiny amount of mild cleaner suitable for the fabric.
- Blot away residue with another clean, slightly damp cloth, then let the area dry completely.
Keeping the inside fresh
After wearing the costume, absorb moisture with a clean towel and leave the inside open to air. Do not apply disinfectant, fragrance or cleaner to foam, fans or electrical parts unless our team confirms it is compatible.
Drying and storage
Air-dry the costume away from radiators, hair dryers and direct sunlight. Support the head and padded pieces so they keep their shape. Store the mascot only when fully dry, in a cool, dry place, preferably in a breathable cover.
What to avoid
- Machine washing, soaking or wringing unless the care instructions supplied with the costume specifically allow it.
- Hot water, bleach, solvents, alcohol, harsh cleaners and steam.
- Tumble dryers, ironing and direct heat.
- Hard brushing or rubbing that can pull out fibres or damage finishes.
When should you contact our team?
If you are unsure about the material or cleaning method, have a large or stubborn stain, notice a lasting odour or misshapen foam, or the costume has electrical parts, contact our team before continuing. We can help you choose a suitable method and, if needed, find a textile-cleaning professional.
These are general care tips. The care instructions supplied with your mascot always take priority.
